I’ve been playing games for over 20 years—everything from experimental indies to big-budget chaos—and eventually I wanted a better way to explain why some games hit and others didn’t. So I built a scoring system myself, shaped entirely by my own experience and instincts as a lifelong player. It helps me look at a game from multiple angles—how it plays, how it feels, how it sticks with you—without relying on just one overall score to sum it all up. Some parts matter more than others, and if a game leans heavily into one area while skipping another, I account for that. It’s not about being “right” or definitive—it’s about being clear and consistent in how I evaluate things. The system keeps me grounded, especially when comparing games that do wildly different things well. But even with all that structure, at the end of the day, it’s still just my opinion.
